Ron Mueck

Ron Mueck is a tallente australian sculptor working in Great Britain. His early career was a model maker and puppeteer for children's films

He specialized in making photorealistic props catering to the advertising industry. These props were specifically designed to be photographed an only a particular angle leaving behind the rough construction part of it. He made sculptures almost perfect to the real thing.

He sculpted minute details of the human body and played with d size of the sculptures , making them look rather large in magnitude.

His 5m high "Boy" 1999 was a feature in the Millenium Dome and later exhibited in tne Venice Biennale

Mueck later changed from photography to fine art and sculpture as he felt that photography altered the physical presence of his sculptures.

Over the years Mueck changed his medium of work ie latex as he was looking for sumthing more precise. He was inspired by an architectural decor he saw on the wall of a botique. He switched from latex to fiberglass resin with which he was satisfied.

He crated various sculture such as the "Pregnant woman" which was his most ambitious work till date.

This object was rather intimidating when viewed for the first time, after a while however this magistic "Earth mother" becomes familiar. Her expression is tender with emotion and evokes a multitude of thoughts.
